For the knives, I choose only the best materials available. The blades are always from Finland, except for the Damascus steel. Similarly, the woods, bones, and leathers always come from Finland.
The sheath is my specialty. It's common to see good knives with sheaths that are poorly made. I craft all my sheaths by hand, from start to finish, including the form. The sheaths are sewn and dyed by hand, in line with the value of the knives.
I am Aaro Väisänen, a 16-year-old high school student from Tampere. I founded my business when I turned 13. My goal was to make high-quality traditional Finnish knives as hand-crafted as possible.
Hard work paid off, and the business started running smoothly about a year after I began. I have actively worked on developing the company to ensure continued growth.
Product development is perhaps the most enjoyable part of entrepreneurship. It's rewarding to think about how different stages of the process could be done even better and how the details could be made even cleaner and more functional.
Through product development and learning, I have transitioned to making exclusively collector's knives. Although you rarely see collector's knives used in the field, I always strive to maintain their practicality – my current models work flawlessly for tasks as well.
I have been actively investing for several years, but my greatest passion is definitely entrepreneurship. I have worked on internationalizing my business and strengthening my brand to learn more about business, marketing, and economics. My dream is to become a full-time entrepreneur in the future.
